Buyers’ FAQs for France
How much local property tax do I need to pay in France?
Local property taxes in France require you to pay ‘taxe d’habitation’ and ‘taxe foncière’ which are both due around October/November. These are based on the property’s cadastral value and differ depending on the region it is located in. As an estimation, they can cost around 10-20 euros per m2 per year, although if you use a property management company, they tend to pay the taxe d’habitation, meaning you only pay the taxe foncière (although not for the first two years).
