Königsleiten is the highest hamlet of the Zillertal Arena, it is situated at 1,600m with world class skiing and snowboarding waiting outside the front door of your accommodation. The ‘Zillertal Arena offers outstanding skiing opportunities with access to 322km of downhill skiing, 143 marked pistes and 112 ski lifts. Outside of the ski slopes, Königsleiten is blessed with great restaurants, bars and everything you can imagine for a perfect après ski. For those who like a slightly quieter winter holiday, you can easily visit the small village Wald for peaceful cross-country skiing and winter hiking.

In the heart of the popular Zillertal Ski Arena is the village of Konigsleiten. Situated at 1,600m this is one of the highest ski resorts in Austria. The extensive piste network is as snow-sure as they come and the skiing goes right up to 2,500m.

Situated just on the boarder of Salzburgerland and the Tyrol, Konigsleiten is a great base from which to explore this exciting region of Austria in both summer and winter.

The south-facing aspect ensures that the village gets as much sunshine as possible and you can enjoy some apres-ski or al-fresco dining in the many bars and restaurants.

Winter in Königsleiten

The Zillertal Arena is the largest ski area in the Zillertal and extends from Zell im Ziller via Gerlos to Wald- Konigsleiten and Krimml-Hochkrimml and is renowned for some of the most varied and extensive skiing in the region.
The good mix of blues, reds and blacks runs extend to over 143kms of piste and reach an altitude of 2,500m making it some of the most snow-sure skiing in the region.

At the end of the day, you will find a good selection of apres-ski bars, restaurants and dining options in the village.

Summer in Königsleiten

In the summer, you will find the Krimml waterfalls – Europe’s largest and a popular day trip involving a good hike and a hearty lunch at the top.

For keen hikers, there are also some longer routes that allow you to stay in mountain huts right up the glacier plateaus with views all the way to the Italian Alps.

The nearby Hohe Tauern National Park is also a hiking paradise with hundreds of kms of marked trails allowing for all abilities.
