At 860 meters elevation, it's a key entry point to the Gastein Valley's ski network, which features over 200 kilometres of pistes accessible with a single pass. This pass also connects to Ski Amadé, Austria's largest ski pass alliance, covering 760 kilometres across the Salzburg region.
The local Schlossalm-Angertal-Stubnerkogel area has 82 kilometres of groomed pistes and 17 lifts, catering primarily to families and intermediate skiers. One highlight is the Hohe Scharte Nord, a 10-kilometre run with a vertical drop of 1,440 meters, the longest continuous descent in the Eastern Alps.
Advanced skiers can explore Sportgastein, reaching 2,685 meters on the Kreuzkogel, known for its excellent freeride zones and off-piste routes.
