Property in Saas Fee

Property in Saas Fee offers relatively good value for Switzerland. Prices of chalet and apartments for sale in Saas Fee can be up to 50% cheaper than the likes of Verbier or nearby Zermatt.

Indeed, since it is near impossible for foreign buyers to buy property in Zermatt, many end up in Saas Fee which is very similar with it’s charming centre of high altitude, glacier skiing.

The Lex Weber laws have ensured that there is little new construction now in Saas Fee although it is possible to find some apartments for sale on the piste in older buildings. Chalet buyers will have some choice of older properties or, indeed, buying a more recently renovated one.

Winter in Saas Fee

There is plenty of skiing here for all standards with most slopes north-facing and holding the snow well.

Beginners and Intermediates will find plenty of good skiing on the lower slopes while experts tend to head to the glacier which has some terrific skiing all the way up to 3,500m.

Indeed, such is the altitude, that you will find ski teams and eager enthusiasts enjoying the glacier skiing right though till June before starting again in the early Autumn. When you are up there, why not enjoy a spot of lunch in the world’s highest rotating restaurant!

Back in town, the smaller ‘Hannig’ mountain provides some designated routes for snowshoeing, winter-hiking and tobogganing.

Summer in Saas Fee

Saas Fee is a true, year-round alpine resort and you will find plenty of activities on offer during the summer.

The bars and restaurants spill out onto the payments and cater for the hikers and mountain bikers as they come down from a day in the mountains.

Kids will love the Feeblitz, which is a fun toboggan ride on fixed tracks that makes for a great afternoon’s activity.
